A merchant has to be able to either travel very fast, or be able to fight reasonably well. Preferably both. So you need high Path-Finding skill, decent Scouting, and a few extra horses in your inventory to counteract your trading goods.
Trade: 0 (Decreases shop prices, and increases sell prices) You'll have a number of Skill Points equal to your intelligence after you place your attribute points. You want to sell when this is green, as it indicates profit. Red means lose. The second perk changes the color of items on the left (seller) inventory. Green shows that the item costs less than the average price, red shows it costs more than the average. Since the goal is to buy low and sell high, you also want to buy when this is green.
Trade is a skill available to players and NPCs. Ranks in this skill reduce the difference in price between what you can purchase goods for and what you can sell goods for by 5% per rank.
